The Brief
Shields Dental & Implant Clinic is based in Limerick city and was established in 2006. They currently run two practices, one on the South Circular Road and the other in Castletroy. Patients are treated by the third generation of a family of distinguished dentists.
Shields had recently re-branded and re-designed their website, but it was not performing very well in the search engine result pages (serps) for relevant search terms. For example, they were ranking at no.8 for the lucrative keyword phrase “Dentist Limerick”.
Insignis Web were approached and asked to perform an audit of the website in order to ascertain where issues existed and where improvements could be made in terms of website rankings.
Our Approach
We started by conducting an audit of the website shieldsdentalclinic.ie. We identified issues with the website which were affecting their search engine rankings and carried out a plan as follows:
=> corrected all errors, drastically improved page loading speeds, improved the mobile site, re-sized massive images, completed setup of the SSL certificate and added/configured a premium SEO plugin
=> improved the layout of many pages, especially the services pages as text was scant, some pages contained poor imagery and did not work to Shields’ benefit at all
=> conducted research to determine relevant keywords which were being used often in Google searches and carefully populated the page texts, headings, meta tags and images with these keywords
=> updated the website software
=> improved website security
=> other improvements suggested by Google Search Console
=> conducted competitive research to identify Shields biggest competitors, their strenghts and weaknesses
=> evaluated and onboarded the website for the monthly website plan
The Result
WEBSITE ACTIONS
Website Organic Traffic
Organic traffic increased by 56% in the 6 months following takeover of the SEO and increased by a further 22% over the following 6 months.
Website Phone Calls
Phone calls (via the website) from organic sources increased by 25% in the 6 months following takeover of the SEO and increased by a further 55% over the following 6 months.
Website Contact Form Submissions
Contact form submissions (via the website) from organic sources decreased by 5% in the 6 months following takeover of the SEO but increased by 22% over the following 6 months.
GOOGLE MY BUSINESS ACTIONS
A “Google my Business” listing is critical for any local business, as it is with this listing that many potential customers will find what they are looking for, especially on mobile and also when using Google Maps to find a local business.
Optimising this listing is crucial for SEO (search engine optimisation) but is often overlooked, with many SEO consultants focussing only on the rankings of the businesses website.
However, in optimising this listing, many local businesses receive more business through this listing than through their website.
Website Traffic via Google my Business
Visits to the website from the Shields Google my Business listing increased by 112% in the 6 months following takeover of the SEO and increased by a further 11% over the following 6 months.
Phonecalls via Google my Business
Phone calls (via the website) increased by 121% in the 6 months following takeover of the SEO and increased by a further 12% over the following 6 months.
